About 100 campus members -- faculty, staff, and students -- came
together October 15, 2004 for the Campus Walk for Breast Cancer,
honoring colleagues, friends, loved ones, and others who have
been touched by breast cancer.
Before the walk, participants were greeted by Jenny Lipow, who
recently lost her mother, Anne Lipow, to breast cancer. Anne,
a long-time member of the campus community, worked at the Library
and served as a member of the Breast Health Committee.
Jenny Lipow shared the story of her mother's diagnosis and treatment,
and encouraged women to take care themselves through early detection
methods.
Following a 20-minute walk, participants shared their experiences
and stories with one another and picked up "Early Detection
Cards" to share with colleagues, friends or family.
The event was sponsored by Health*Matters and the campus Breast
Health Committee.
