Counseling Programs: Psychiatric Services

Psychiatric Services is available upon referral by CPS (or Mills) counselors. Many emotional and mental states have a physical component and medications often can be helpful to students who are struggling with depression, anxiety, or other difficulties, including self-destructive impulses or suicidal thoughts. We have a strong commitment to help students understand their difficulties and to consider a range of options to make things better.

Medication Evaluation: Our psychiatrists can meet with students for a medication evaluation to determine whether medications might be helpful and to discuss how to combine them with therapy and other self-care. If medication is right for you, the psychiatrist can provide follow-up care, making adjustments in medication and dose when needed.

ADHD: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a condition that affects an estimated 3 to 5 percent of children and often persists into adolescence and adulthood. The principal characteristics of ADHD are inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity. Students who think they may have ADHD can schedule an appointment with a counselor at CPS by calling 642-2367. See Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder for more information on ADHD and the services provided.

With a referral to a psychiatrist from a CPS counselor or Mills counselor, students may schedule an appointment:
