Keyboards and Mice: Ergonomic Alternatives

Improving Your Posture@Work

Worksite Evaluations
Evaluations for computer users are performed by your Department Computer Workstation Evaluator. To find out the evaluator for your department, ask your supervisor or call 643-2540. Supervisors or Department Safety Coordinators may request worksite evaluations in non-computer environments by calling 643-2540.
Computer Ergonomics Matching Funds Program
Campus departments can apply for up to $500 per employee in matching funds to modify on-site computer workstations. Please see the Ergonomics@Work website for details and requirements. www.uhs.berkeley.edu/facstaff/ergonomics/
Computer Workstation Evaluator Training
Wednesday, Feb. 8 and May 30, 8 am-noon, Tang Ed Center
Learn the basics of how to evaluate and modify computer workstations according to campus ergonomic guidelines in this practical, hands-on workshop, specifically for departmental computer workstation evaluators. Departments are required to have an evaluator to qualify for matching funds. Enroll online. 642-5549
RSI Guard Software
Download "RSI Guard," a free, innovative software programthat reminds you to take short stretch breaks and micro breaks while working at your computer. This program shows you how to safely stretch using video clips and verbal cues. RSI Guard software is available to download for campus faculty and staff who use PCs and MACs. To install RSI Guard onto your computer, log on to the Blu portal (blu.berkeley.edu), enter your CalNet ID, click on the People tab, and look for RSI Guard under Job Tools.
