About Us

Mission

The Chancellor's Task Force on Student/Neighbor Relations is dedicated to improving the quality of life in the neighborhoods near campus by developing mutual understanding and respect among all of its residents and promoting good neighbor behaviors and activities.

History

The Task Force was formed by Chancellor Robert Birgeneau in May 2005 in response to concerns and complaints raised by residents in the south campus Willard neighborhood about the behaviors of students living in private housing. With representation from the various stakeholder groups as well as city and university staff, the Task Force meets regularly to establish priorities and evaluate its progress. Much of its work is accomplished through subcommittees dealing with enforcement, communication and education, landlord outreach, and student leadership.
