Enrollment, Fees and Membership
| Who May Enroll | Students are automatically enrolled in the Berkeley's Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP), and charged a health insurance fee on their registration bill. (See Why SHIP) Groups eligible for SHIP include:

| How to Enroll | Registered students are automatically enrolled in SHIP. The fee for SHIP is billed as part of students' registration fees. Note: Students can waive enrollment with proof of comparable insurance and receive a refund of the SHIP fee. Waivers must be filed prior to each fall semester.
Students on Filing Fee or Withdrawal status are not automatically enrolled in SHIP, and must apply for the plan. For more information and to apply, see SHIP for Filing Fee and Withdrawal Students. Enrollment period for SHIP Voluntary Plan: Fall semester enrollment period is July 15-September 15 with an effective coverage date of August 15 and Spring semester enrollment period is December 15-February 15 with an effective coverage date of January 15. |
