|Who May Enroll||All registered undergraduate and graduate students of the Berkeley campus at the University of California, including registered international students are automatically enrolled in the Berkeley's Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP), and charged a health insurance fee on their registration bill. (See Why SHIP)
Groups eligible for Voluntary SHIP include:
Non-registered graduate students of the University of California Berkeley campus on Filing Fee, and undergraduate students on Concurrent Enrollment status (see definition below), may purchase plan coverage for a maximum of one semester while on either status. The student must have been covered by the plan in the term immediately preceding the term for which the student wants to purchase coverage.

|How to Enroll||Registered students are automatically enrolled in SHIP. The fee for SHIP is billed as part of students' registration fees. Note: Students can waive enrollment with proof of comparable insurance and receive a refund of the SHIP fee. Waivers must be filed prior to each fall semester.
Students on Filing Fee and Concurrent Enrollment are not automatically enrolled in Voluntary SHIP, and must enroll for the plan. For more information and to enroll, visit www.aetnastudenthealth.com. Enrollment period for SHIP Voluntary Plan: Fall semester enrollment period is July 15-September 15 with an effective coverage date of August 15 and Spring semester enrollment period is December 15-February 15 with an effective coverage date of January 15.

Continuous enrollment in SHIP ensures continuous, year-round coverage. The minimum period of coverage is one semester.
